Hello, fellow music junkies!

We are really excited to share with you our latest hidden musical gem! While on one of our many wild internet romps, we stumbled upon an amazing duo that have successfully tapped into an undiscovered genre of their own.

‘The Whiskey Charmers’, as they rightfully call themselves, is the brilliantly talented duo of Carrie Shepard and Lawrence Daversa, who have certainly charmed the pants right off us. Their music is perfect for a rainy night, when you’re sitting in front of the fireplace, whiskey in hand, contemplating the meaning of life.

Upon first hearing their beautiful tunes, especially ‘Vampire’ and ‘Waltz’, it was imperative that we interview and feature them. Therefore, we have for you an exclusive one on one with ‘The Whisky Charmers’, complete with their unrivaled wit, we can promise you that by the end you’d want to be their best friend, we sure do!

Q1. What’s your ‘How We Met’ story?
♫ I was lost out in the desert for three days straight. Lawrence came along with his electric guitar and a gallon of fresh water and rescued me.

Q2. How would you describe your sound to someone who is new to your music?
♫ We always have a hard time answering this question. We have a whole section on our website dedicated to the the way listeners describe our music, because it is so interesting and also fun to hear from our fans. One of our favorites is “Sex with death shortly thereafter.” More can be found here: http://thewhiskeycharmers.com/fan-comments/

Q3. What inspires you and what are your favorite bands or artists?
♫ The inspiration for songs comes from everyday life. Some of our favorite bands or artists are Bonnie Raitt, ACDC, George Jones, Dio, Merle Haggard, Lucinda Williams, John Prine and Dale Watson.

Q4. If your music could be the soundtrack to any movie or TV show, what would it be?
♫ A few reviewers have mentioned that our music should be on Twin Peaks or in a Quentin Tarantino movie. We wouldn’t mind if it was the background to a modern take on a Spaghetti Western.

Q5. Do you have a dream stage where you picture yourself playing? Which other musicians are standing next to you on this stage?
♫ A few of our dream stages are Red Rocks and Austin City Limits. I think we would both be pretty happy to share the stage with Bonnie Raitt. Personally, I might pass out.

Q6. Do you have a pre or post-show ritual, you know, for good luck?
♫ We don’t have a pre show ritual, but that’s a good idea. We might have to start one. Our post show ritual usually involves eating and lots of driving.

Q7. Your eponymous album has some beautiful tunes, which ones are your favorites?
♫ Eponymous? Wait is this for R.E.M.? Ha. If you mean our self-titled album, I think it would be hard for us to pick a favorite. My favorite might be Sidewinder, because I like listening to Lawrence’s face-melting solos. Lawrence’s two favorites are “Straight and Narrow” and “Waltz”

Q8. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
♫ We just played at place in St Louis called Evangeline’s and had their red beans and rice. It was so amazing, our mouths almost couldn’t handle it. We have considered driving 10 hours from Detroit just to go back and have a bowl. I think we will go with that.

Q9. What is your most memorable incident from one of your concerts?
♫ We played at the Ore Dock in Marquette, Michigan and Gary Fisher, the inventor of the mountain bike was there as the guest of honor at a Mountain Bike Convention. He was a real character and was dancing in the crowd with a lovely lady and thanking us for the tunes.

Q10. Finally, since we are TheClosetPlebeians, we are all about finding thrifty ways to make life awesome.
Do you have any advice for aspiring musicians, to make it big without breaking the bank?

♫ We used Kickstarter to raise funds for our first album and it was a great experience for us. Aside from being able to record the album, it also helped us reach out to a lot of people who otherwise not have heard our music. Also, pack a cooler for the road! 🙂

We hope that you fall in love with their music just like we did!

Also, added bonus for you, you can check out songs from their first self-titled album below! ❤ ❤
