If I were to tell you that ‘Winter is Coming’, would you be sad to lose summer? or would you jump with joy?
If you fall in the latter category, then I can safely assume that you too are at loggerheads with biting sunshine, warm air, constant perspiration, and engulfing humidity.
Don’t worry my cold wind loving comrades, I have here some right tips for you to live through the torture-season before you can finally embrace the goodness of chilly nights, hot chocolate, and blanky snuggles! *Winter! sob-sob* (T.T)
It does not do well to crank up the air conditioning every second you experience heat seeping down you back or front, because power bills guys, they can be deadly.
~Make copious amounts of iced tea from scratch!
There are a whole lot of flavors you can experiment with for this one! The essence is in the preparation as you don’t just buy iced-tea powder and mix in water, served with some lemon and ice.
What you need to do is boil any tea leaves that you have in your kitchen, with (or without) spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, or even black pepper, and add your sugar to taste. Keep it to chill in the refrigerator.
Once chilled, you can cut up tiny apple pieces and add to your drink! You can maximize the refreshing flavors by adding in a mix of some blended ice and fresh mint sprigs!
The final product is as good as any restaurant-served luxury ranged iced-teas, for less than half the price! *Yay*
~Make the floor your second Best-Friend!
Okay, this one may seem strange, but trust me, it’s foolproof! When you feel like you’re dying and the heat is overwhelming your senses, spray some water on the floor and lie down.
It is weird, if you’ve never heard of this before, but during the olden golden times, when our parents and grandparents saw through many a power cuts, this is the method they adopted, or they just slept out on the roof tops!
This not only enables you to be one with the earth *ahem*, but all your body heat seeps out of you and into the ground, the same way you should never miss a shower in the rain! (it’s really good for skin, guys!)
~Make ice cubes out of everything!
You probably would’ve heard of freezing green tea, grated cucumber with juice, mango pulp, mint leaf paste, coffee, etc. in ice trays. If not, well I am telling you now!
Seriously, this is the best way to maintain your body temperature to ‘Alive’. Body temp. needs to be set to normal otherwise you can experience breakouts, dizzy spells, and a serious case of NO ENERGY.
Freeze all these things and many more in your ice trays and just eat them whole or dunk them in water, tea, or coffee for a good time.
~Visit pre air-conditioned places!
Okay, here it is. It’s best to save on bills by working out of a cafe, everyone knows that. All those people we see sitting there reading a book or typing away on their laptops will not tell you otherwise!
You would have to spend on an iced mocha, but it doesn’t beat not having to think about overhead costs.
So be proactive, and lug your workspace to your nearby Starbucks or Costa or even a pretty looking independent coffee house, and enjoy the respite!
…and now my absolute favorite.
~It’s a bit sad, if you have to stay indoors on glorious sunny days~ I think not! If you abhor summer as much as I do, you would understand when I say, beat the heat by avoiding it altogether.
If it were up to me, I would stay out of the sun the entire summer season, and come out of hibernation only when it’s gorgeous and chilly out.
Just stay indoors, don’t go anywhere. Laze on your floor all day, in front of the telly, watching age old movies starring sizzling actors, that’s all the heat I can take.
